Nettie Rosenstein 1940’s Dress

Please read about Nettie Rosenstein in our Featured Designer Section this month!  She was an American designer whose design skills rivaled those of her contemporaries such as Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli.  This is one of her earlier dresses and is a perfect example of her ability to transform fabric into a piece of art.  The under-dress has just enough pink at the bust line to create drama underneath the lace top with a fabulous peplum skirt.  It bears the label Nettie Rosenstein styles exclusive with I Magnin & Co. shops.  She started with an exclusive relationship with I Magnin, and this dress is one from that period.  There are slight shoulder pads in the same pink and 12 buttons down the front. There is also a leather belt.  An extraordinary piece to add to any serious collection.  I can find no issues with the dress at all.
