Silk Chiffon & Velvet
This dress is from the estate of Isabell Gerhart, who I wrote about in the vintage thoughts from Lisa section of our site..It is a silk chiffon tent dress with velvet dots and ostrich feather trim. I've shown it cinched at the waist with the matching belt, but the dress can also be worn loosely with the "belt" worn as a scarf. Dolman sleeves and back zipper. Illusion bodice and label reads: "Isabell Gerhart Custom Designed Houston". I don't know which designer created this dress, but her daughter told me that many of her designer friends would design custom pieces for her and she would put her label in the dresses. This one is in excellent condition and is quite extraordinary! I believe it was created in the late 70's or early 80's.
