An amazing early 1950's party or prom dress from designer Ceil Chapman. Gorgeous liquid satin in pumpkin with an overlay of black tulle with lacey polka dots. We love this dress and particularly love the way the bodice tulle drapes over the strapless satin underdress. There is a sie metal zipper. Price reflects the flaws found in the dress. The dress has a tiny hole in the tulle in the bodice. The other issues are as follows: The satin bodice, which is covered when worn so it doesn't show, has some "pricks", the hemline was shortened (was originally a full length gown) and needs to be re-tacked in places and there is a 1" repair that needs to be done to the tulle under the arm. The dress is very wearable and it is the dress that Sarah, from DRESS vintage, wore to the inaugural ball in February. (Read the vintage thoughts from Lisa Winter 2009 archive). I've shown it will a full tulle slip, but it is also sensational without one and takes on an entirely different, almost flapper type look. Outstanding Ceil Chapman 50's dress!
