Vintage Nina Ricci Paris 1960’s Suit Dress
I don’t know if Jules-Francois Crahay or Gerard Pipart was the designer for House of Ricci at the time this fabulous dress was made. Jules-Francois Crahay left to design for Lanvin in 1963 and this dress would appear to have been created in the early 60’s, and I’m not certain of the exact date. But either way, it is absolutely perfectly crafted and the sheer weight of it alone proves that it is an exceptional garment. It feels like a wool and silk blend, has dark navy buttons in the front, and is belted with a dark navy leather belt. The horizontal stripes are a good representation of Nina Ricci’s use of pattern. There are two front pockets and it is classically cut with a fitted waistline. Mint condition and the thread in the hemline indicates that it was never worn.
